Waiting for the bus

I always seem to make a lot of fuss

As I sit and wait for the bus

With these heavy bags of worries in my hands

Maybe it would be better if I stand

This heavy load keeps bringing me down

It keeps dragging my feet on the ground

All these doubts and worries circling in my head

Why can't I leave them at home instead?

Then I see the bus arrive

I notice something's different as I step inside

I'm glad I've made the right choice

As I hear His familiar voice

'Come on in and journey with Me

Leave all those bags of worries under the Tree

I saw you worrying an awful lot

As you were waiting at the bus stop

I can hear your sigh of relief

As you sit down on your seat

Have you not remembered what you were told?

Why do you keep carrying that heavy load?

Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest

....For My yoke is easy and My burden is light

Now take a look out the window at all the beautiful sights

Notice the trees with their new spring leaves

Remember that I planted the little seed

In your heart to let you know that you are Mine

And remind you that with Me everything will be fine

See the Shepherd walking in the field

Don't forget my love for you is sealed

Now take a look at the little lambs

And remember that I'm the 'Great I AM'

Gaze at all the beautiful flowers

And remember my blessings come in showers

Set your eyes on those fluffy clouds

Always trust in me and never doubt

Now catch a glimpse of the rainbow in the sky

Know that my love for you will never run dry

See the river as it gently flows

Remember I am with you always in the highs and lows

Now take a look at the mountain peaks

I understand that life can sometimes be steep

Don't forget I am with you in the valleys

Come to Me and give me all your worries

Now observe the birds flying to their nests

I'll continually give you rest and take those burdens off your chest

So my dear always leave your worries under the Tree

And come and get on the bus with Me'

I wrote this poem at a time when I was very stressed and overwhelmed about some burdens I had at my work many years ago. As I was lying down, I had a vision of myself standing waiting at a bus stop with loads of heavy bags and luggage. The bags and luggage were my worries, anxieties, fears, people and circumstances that were pulling me down. As I was waiting being dragged down by the weight of my problems, I saw a lovely white bus come along with no passengers inside only the driver. I couldn't see the driver's face but I recognised His voice, the gentle voice of my Saviour. He was the driver and He welcomed me to come on board and go for a ride with Him on the bus. Immediately, we were driving through a stunning countryside and He was like a tour bus driver telling me to look outside the windows and focus on the beauty and scenery all around. This poem is a reminder to me to relax and look around at all the beauty of God's creation and to really appreciate nature in all its splendour. It is a beautiful illustration of how my burdens can be lifted and also a reminder for me to leave my burdens with Him under the tree (the foot of the Cross).
