Hidden Treasure

Life as a Christian can be like living in an oyster shell
We all go through pain and suffering some of us know so well
But inside all that grit from layers of sand
Is a hidden treasure that God has specially planned
God uses the things that irritate us and make us feel sad
Like deep wounds from those who said things when they were mad
He wants us to forgive those who cause us pain and hurt
And not live our lives struggling in the dirt
The longer we spend time in our shells
The more and more the dirt of life smells
But God doesn't want us to feel trapped and overwhelmed inside
He uses our pain and discomfort and turns them into blessings in disguise
You see, certain things come into our life
Cause in this world we will face grief and strife
But underneath all the layers of dirt and slime
Our hidden treasures are being refined in His time
Like the oyster God spreads some healing balm
On our hidden treasure caused by grains of sand
If it wasn't for the wounds caused by the grain
Our lives wouldn't change and we would stay the same
We must go through trials of discomfort to develop our character
Pearls take time to grow and look after
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness
Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control
Are the Fruit of the Spirit
And like pearls on a necklace we want to wear it
All the pain and suffering we injured will be
Turned into the greatest blessing when we enter eternity
Our shells will be opened, yes each one
And our treasured pearls will shine brightly like the Son
